Assisting in this story is T'mar, who I mentioned is an old friend of Spocks who Captain Kirk hits on throughout the entirety of the game. PEW PEW PEW ensues as Captain Kirk has to deal with the problems of the Gorn (who the Federation has never met) while keeping enough Vulcans alive to repopulate their species. These rifts open up to the Gorn homeworld who are more than a little worried about what the potential damage from this stuff will do. The premise of the game is that the Vulcans on New Vulcan are terraforming a planet with some new technology (*COUGH* totally not the stuff which would lead to the Genesis device) that accidentally opens rifts in the subject of space-time. I would have watched the shit out of this movie. The thing is, someone must have given a crap because the game has some great acting, some great writing, and a bunch of really good cinematic scenes as well as awesome concepts.

the developers of ST:TG had their own projects in the work and refused to work on a project they'd been hired to do seriously despite the fact they'd been paid for it and a lot of people (including the entire cast of the re-booted ST movies) were interested in making sure this turned out all right. From what research I've done on the subject, it turns out that the situation is analogous to a MUCH-MUCH-MUCH less severe version of what happened to Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Star Trek: The Video Game is a case where I think it's obvious that the developers had a really good idea, really good base for the idea, and a lot of other wonderful concepts but the game wasn't polished enough before release to be perfect.
